COFES India Summit Kicks Off

Landmark symposium in New Delhi Set to Address Engineering Issues Facing India

New Delhi, India - November 17, 2006 - Cyon Research Corporation, the organizers of the annual Congress on the Future of Engineering Software (COFES), today welcomes participants to the inaugural COFES India Summit. At the event, participants from around the world have converged to discuss, debate and define how the world's engineering software community needs to explore the engineering opportunities facing India.

The COFES India Summit marks the first meeting point between the executives of the world's largest software developers and the top leaders of the Indian engineering and technical community. The Summit is set to define the critical opportunities facing the engineering software industry within the specific context of India. The event represents the kick-off of a collaborative examination and a refinement of issues in a year-long effort to build a community between software vendors and customers in India.

"The COFES India Summit is an excellent forum for leading developers of software aimed at engineering and manufacturing companies to discuss substantive issues faced by many of our collective customers and partners in India," said Raj Khoshoo, vice president of Strategic Initiatives for UGS. "This summit will help us to define the critical issues facing India's engineering industry in a rapidly expanding global product development environment, while also growing our community and stimulating ideas and discussion that will help us continue to improve PLM tools."

The free, invitation-only, landmark event will shed light on how the world's engineering software community can address the many economic and political opportunities facing India.

"India is one of the fastest growing engineering and technology communities, and an event like this will be very beneficial to that growth," said Rainer Gawlick, vice president, Worldwide Marketing, SolidWorks. "We applaud the efforts to get leaders in that area of the world discussing the critical issues that face them and we're proud to be a part of the inaugural effort."

Cyon Research Corporations groundbreaking symposium, the Congress on the Future of Engineering Software - COFES - has been the most important gathering place for the engineering industry since 2000. Each year, 275 leaders, users, vendors, executives, consultants, and press - meet and share their insights in Scottsdale, Arizona.

More than a trade conference or lecture series, COFES accommodates a relaxed, honest, and intelligent conversation about the future of the engineering software industry. The COFES India Summit is a precursor to COFES-Asia 2007, a larger, more-inclusive international event based on the COFES-US model.

"The COFES India Summit is set to examine and refine issues in a year-long effort to build a community between software vendors and customers in India," said Brad Holtz CEO and President, Cyon Research. "Our goal is that the issues raised today will be clearly refined and contextualized by COFES 2007 in Phoenix, allowing participants to be primed for action when the first annual COFES-Asia takes place in the fall of 2007."
